Life is beautiful

Home and away

September 28, 2008

Sometimes the best thing about being away is getting home again. Anders and I spend the last cuple of days in Vienna (Austria).  It is a beautiful city and we had a really good time but I must admit I was looking forward to come home today.

I bought some vintage buttons at a market Saturday morning, they were way overpriced, but I got very excited about all the colors, shapes and materials and I couldn’t help but buy some anyway. I’m gonna make them into earrings.

Shopping analyzis

September 21, 2008

I can’t stop wondering, what makes a good shopping eksperience…?  Music, light, pretty gift-wraping, open door to indicate you’re welcome, a feelig of inspiration…  lots of things propably.  In my shop people often have many questions, like: Are you the designer? Do you also make the jewelery? Where did you learn? Is it possible to order this dress in black? How is it to have a shop at Bryggen?

Many customors like’s the personal aspect of my concept. -Which is good, because otherwise they could just buy clothes in Zara or H&M and I wouldn’t have a business. The thing is, I love to make the clothes and jewelery, but sometimes I just don’t feel like chit chatting. Maby some kind of ekstended buisness card would do me good…

An oldie but a godey

September 18, 2008

The funny thing about fashion trends is that sometimes when something becomes a big hit like “buffalo’s”, earmuffs, skulls or bordaux coloured lipstick, it seems to loose its magic and no matter what, you can never  look at it again with the same eyes as before…. The hairband situation accually started two years ago,  I made some with bows, like the ones on the picture. They were really popular, but the “bow thing” became a massive hit all around town and I stopped making them when I saw something that looked like them in H&M.  Then my plan was to make something that worked like them, but different, and I made the flower hairband, witch became even more succesful.  Now, lately I’ve had costumors asking for the bow hairband, so I made them again and now they are back in the game! The buttom line is, that rarely a fashion trend survives being a hit and still works after  “the storm” -If it does, it can accually get even better after a while. I think the bow hairbands might have survived….

Hidden tresures

September 15, 2008

Sometimes I find clothes in my closet that I haven’t been using for a very long time. Often it is a clear sign that it is just not working for me, then I get a very bad conscience and hurry down to a Red Cross shop with it. But then sometimes I find someting that I just forgot and it can feel like getting something new and inspiring, like a hidden tresure waiting to be found.  I made this skirt last winter and never really wore it. Found it this morning and voila….!

On my walls

September 12, 2008

A few days ago I saw a “On my walls” post on Mettes blog.  I’m still not entirely sure how the tagging part works,- I mean when somebody tags you, is there an unspoken rule that says you ought to tag back to that person, or does it often go around so that you tag a new person every time? And is it even possible to get into a blogging circle that easily?  My problem is that I’m sure there are lots of unspoken rules about the social life of blogging. Now, I am new and I really want to join in.

Back to the wall post- suddenly I can bearly find a blog that hasen’t done the wall-theme, that was what made me wonder.  Nobody did actually tag me, but I got inspired and did this post of my own.  -So in the risk of  having gotten it all wrong, I’ll try to tag Lea and the guys at Rudiment and then see what happens.

Lunch

September 12, 2008

Can you belive this yummy sandwich is only made from leftovers…

Roastbeef, cheddar, Jalapenos, salad and yougurt dressing.

Eurowoman

September 11, 2008

A turban of mine was photografed for the September issue of the danish magazine Eurowoman. I still feel kind of shy when I see my name in magazines.  I don’t think I’m cut out for this “famous” designer show, wonder if I’ll get used to it some day?

It kind of bothers me that they did the styling of the turban all wrong, the Brinja logo is supposed to be placed in the center and the knot to the side.  Well, who am I to complain, here it is…

Grocery shopping

September 10, 2008

I’m not at all a morning person and I’m slowly realizing that I probably never will become one. Anyway, this morning I had to get up early to get some grocery shopping done, before opening my shop. Turns out it´s great to go shopping in the morning, there are no lines with those people who only take up their wallets and pay after they have packed all their bags while the whole place  is just waiting for them to be done, no stressed out parrents with screaming kids and no angry people to yell at the staff.  Also, there are still fresh milk and vegies on the shelves! I actually had a great time in “Fakta” this morning,  and once again I promised myself  to get up early every morning, starting today…

What I wore yesterday.

Drawings

September 7, 2008

I can look at fashion drawings for hours, these ones are from an old book I got several years ago. The book is from 1964.

Both the style and drawings fascinates me.

Sunflower

September 6, 2008

This is the result of a sunflower seed I planted in the kitchen window this summer. I had to cut it of today because it became to tall and reached the seeling. It grew so rapidly that the chili and tomato plants didn’t get enough nutrition. There are actually no flowers, but I like it anyway.

Very Islands Brygge

September 5, 2008

Usually it’s nice to be home from work, but when you are really sick it is not that fun. And It is even worse not being sick and still not being able to do anything.

Anders has been stuck in his corner for two dayes with a sprained ancle.

I’ve been working on some new photos for my shop webside this week… It will take a while before they are updated. I’ll let you know.
