1. of December
December 1, 2009
I have been wrapping gifts like a crazy person for two days now…. The advent-calender-solution in my shop has been a giant hit :). Ever since I put up a note in the window about the concept I have sold maybe 3-4 calenders a week, but it seems all the men out there just realized that today is the fist of December and all of a sudden they all NEEED a calender for their girlfriend, wife, daughter or mum as quick as possible!
Today we have been three girls at work just wrapping wrapping wrapping…. Since yesterday we have made 11 calenders all together, 24 x 11 is a whole lot of present you know!
So I’ve had no time to take pictures and no time to answer comments today! Sorry… Be back soon.
Ps. When I came back home, Santa had been visiting me too, he left this yummy chocolate-bar in my Christmas sock (witch was already gone before picture time)
Returning turban!
November 25, 2009
This popular turban is now back in my shop, I have made them for several years now, but if I must say so myself they are still fabulous :) -I change the selection of colours all the time to make each of them special. For now, the new colours are: mustard-yellow, bottle-green, cerise-red and navy blue -like on the picture.
Candlelight cups!
November 20, 2009
I have made candlelights in vintage cups for the shop… It was a lot more difficult and messy that I had thought so I don’t think I’m going to make them again. Happy weekend all!
Ribbons in rainbow colours…
November 18, 2009
I don’t sell materials for sewing in my shop, but I have often been asked by customers wanting to buy plain ribbons by the meter. I have enormously amounts of ribbons lying around in stock so I figured; why not?
Of course ever since I hung them out there for sale a few weeks ago, no one has noticed or asked for it :) -Looks pretty tough….

Japanese magazines…
November 11, 2009
I stumbled upon these Japanese magazines from 2005 in my bookshelf today, -what a confidence boost! -I didn’t have a blog at the time they were published so I’ve never showed you (-or did I?). Better late that sorry -isn’t that what they say?

Advent calender
November 7, 2009

As I mentioned a few days ago I sell many gifts in my shop, and these days I can really fell Christmas is getting nearer, people buy small gifts for advent-calenders…
The girls that works in my shop came up with the idea to make advent-calender-solutions specially customized for the customer. Now you come into the shop and order a calender for your, mom, girlfriend, sister or yourself. You just have to tell us a little bit about the person to receive the calender; how old they are, their favourite colour and so on… then we create a calender with 24 nicely-wrapped gifts and you don’t have to run around town for presents all November!
There are two calender-prizes; one for 498kr and a bigger one for 898kr (Danish kroner)
Birthday cards
November 5, 2009

I have made cupcake and ice-cream birthday-cards for my shop… I sell many gifts every day and I thought this might be a good idea…
They say stuff like; Congratulations and hurray hurray! not that inventive -i know, but I couldn’t think of any thing clever, any ideas? It doesn’t have to be in Danish.

Leather gloves
October 25, 2009

My shop is now ready for Winter season. I think I’m going for yellow gloves this year… They don’t have to match the rest of my Winter outfit, actually that might be the whole point of it.
Have a great Sunday everyone. I’m gonna spend the rest of mine with my phone switched off watching old “James Bond movies”
Fall-vacation-blog-break
October 12, 2009

This week is fall-vacation-time in Denmark, mostly that goes for school children and therefore also their teachers (witch includes Anders). And because Anders is of duty; I have treated myself with some time of from the shop. Meanwhile the wonderful Lea is taking good care of Brinja Kbh.
To really relax and escape from everyday life for a while, I have decided to also take a little blog vacation! Not for long -just this week out… I’m surely gonna miss you.
I made these medal-brooches during this Weekend while watching “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. Oh, how I love adventures.

September 30, 2009

I have made jewellery today, rings and earrings. Uh, and I have been working on a Cheerleader costume for my little sister, she is attending a party at her high school this weekend with an American-high-school-theme -so far I have made a tight white t-shirt with a big blue “H” on the front, (her name is Hildur) and a matching blue mini skirt, tomorrow I´ll make some pom poms all she needs then is a ponytail and a pair of trainers… Hopefully she’ll be prom queen after this :)
Ps. My hobby has made it all the way to Norway now, today “Aften posten” has an article about my minihome; you can read it here!.
Cowardy custard…
September 24, 2009

Materials: Ribbon, scissors, glue-gun and some kind of hair accessory.
Today I was asked to participate in a danish television show called “Go morgen Danmark” = “Good morning Denmark”, they would like to bring a story about me and the mini-home. Unfortunately I´m such a chicken and I had to tell them no thanks. Quite a compliment though, huh?
Wednesday at work
September 23, 2009

I have had a great day in the shop with lots of nice customers and friends visiting. These are just some random pictures I took along the day. The porcelain mannequin head broke a long time ago and I glued the pieces together one by one, after getting used to it like this, I have grown to like it even more than before…
Note: You can read the article about my mini-home here!
Rainy Thursday…
September 3, 2009

Fall is officially here and it has been raining all day long, the streets are empty – and so are my shop, which I find very cosy. I´m doing all kinds of things that I wouldn’t have time to do on a normal day… -like bogging!
And I have had time to finish these bow t-shirts that I have had lying around for quite a while now.
How are you all? -thank you so much for all your sweet sweet comments lately, even though I don’t always get to answer back right away I really appreciate them.

Customized dressing room…
July 23, 2009

this is the dressing room in my shop… I have just finished the wallpaper-collage-thing going on in there.
When I first opened up the shop I couldn’t decide what the walls should look like so I bought all kinds of different vintage wallpaper. You can go here to see what I ended up choosing back then.
I didn’t have enough of each pattern to fill up the whole dressing room -that’s why I went for patchwork-walls!
Note: A tip for those of you who might be interrested; this is a shop on Frederiksberg in Copenhagen that stocks authentic wallpapers from the 60ties and 70ties (you have to ask for it, they don’t have it in their showroom). I bought mine five years ago, but they might still have some?
Naming the Fall collection…
July 22, 2009

I am one of those messy creative persons -not that messy in my surroundings, mostly in my head… -I get lots of ideas and most of the time I have lots of little experiments and projects going on all at once… Anders on the other hand, is a guy with the most amazing sense of perspective of any situation -so when when I create things, like for example the fall collection, Anders is the man with the overview. He is also the man that decides what names the different styles should be called -and since my name, witch is also the name of my shop, is Icelandic (My grandpa was from Iceland) and my shop is located on a street named “Islands Brygge” = “Icelandic wharf”, he came up with this brilliant idea of naming the different styles pretty Icelandic girls names like Svava, Björk, Bakka or…?
Monday in my shop…
July 20, 2009

It has been a rainy Monday today… Feels like all the people in my neighbourhood is away on holiday -both at Bryggen and at home, the whole world is so calm and quiet -and I like it…
I bought these new pillows, at a marked in Warsaw for my bench in front of the shop. I had to sew ribbons on them and tie them to the bench because it’s so windy at the harbour and they would surely fly away in a second.
Giveaway badge!
July 10, 2009
When I travel around I always bring home new stuff for the shop, sometimes I find cool materials like beads, buttons, ribbons or fabric and sometimes I find scarves, belts, jewellery or things like that. I like to sell items that has a funny story to tell and I have always made an effort to find things that you can’t buy any where else -not in Denmark at least:)

I’ve had these badges made in a dark underground tunnel by a Warszawa metro station.
It wasen’t easy because the staff in this tiny shop could not speak one word english and so far I only know three Polish words (they didn’t really work here) so if you think about it, this is a pretty neat result:

The badges are not sale items but just a little gadget for custumers in the shop.
If you live in Copehagen and want one -just stop by and pick it up! And if you don’t live in Copenhagen but really want one, then mail me your name and adress and I’ll post one for you.
Summer has most definitely arrived!
June 30, 2009
I am so sorry but I haven’t had time to do a Tuesday-tutorial this week, time has just flown by, -I promise I’ll make it up to you…
I started summer sale in the shop yesterday, most shops in Copenhagen already started sale weeks ago -so I figured; why not now? -And I can tell you, people really like sale… I have not been sitting down for two minutes ever since putting up the “sale” sign yesterday:) -Udsalg means sale in Danish…

Tomorrow is a day I have been looking very much forward to; I’m going to wonderful Berlin to visit this fashion-fair -and my friend Kristian -YAY, can’t wait!
I’m not sure how long I’ll be gone, or if I will be able to blog every day as usual -but I will try to check in whenever possible. -Meanwhile Susi is the boss of “Brinja Kbh”.
So long!
Wrap it up…
June 25, 2009

I was thrilled the day I found this old paper-holder on a flea marked; I have been wanting one of these ever since I opened the shop… You don’t come around stuff like this every day… -Now I just need a new table to match!
How-to Tuesday: Sailor shirt!
June 23, 2009
This is a tutorial on how to make a plain v-neck t-shirt into a fancy-sailor shirt!
What you need is; a plain shirt, white cotton ribbon, scissors, needles and a sewing machine.

1. Cut a long piece of ribbon and pin the center of the ribbon to the center of the neck. Then pin it all the way around leaving the two ends to hang down in the front of the shirt.

2. Sew with a zig-zag stitch in the center of the ribbon and all around the collar of the shirt.

3. tie a knot at the end of the ribbon-straps and make a bow.

Voilá… Now you have a cool and casual sailor inspired summer look!
